Baseball Earns 5-3 Win Over Michigan State

– The Samford baseball team earned a 5-3 win over Michigan State on the final day of the Cox Diamond Invitational Sunday at Pensacola Wahoo Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Samford plated a run in the second inning when Towns King hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Tyler McManus for a 1-0 Bulldog lead.
  • In the third inning, Sonny DiChiara hit a two-run home run to left field to give Samford a 3-0 advantage.
  • Michigan State got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Brendan Regan tripled to drive in Jack Frank to cut the Samford lead to 3-1.
  • In the fifth inning, Will David scored on a wild pitch for a 4-1 Samford lead.
  • In the seventh inning, Brooks Carlson doubled to drive in David for a 5-1 Samford advantage.
  • Michigan State added two more runs in the eighth inning to make the final score 5-3.
