Tyler McManus hit a grand slam in the third inning to propel the Bulldog baseball team to a 5-1 win over Alabama A&M Tuesday night at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless through the first two and a half innings.
- In the third inning, after Max Pinto was hit by a pitch, Brooks Carlson walked and Sonny DiChiara was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Tyler McManus hit a grand slam to left field to give Samford a 4-0 lead.
- Alabama A&M plated its lone run in the game in the top of the eighth inning to cut the lead to 4-1.
- Samford added one final run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Davis Schwartz tripled to drive in DiChiara to make the final score 5-1.
ON THE MOUND
- Mason McCormack (1-0) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up no runs on two hits to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
- Otis Smith (0-3) tossed 3.0 innings, giving up four runs on four hits in taking the loss for Alabama A&M.
