Bulldogs Take Overtime Thriller From Wofford, 65-60

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball team earned a tough, hard-fought overtime win over Wofford, 65-60, Wednesday night in the Pete Hanna Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 15-9 overall and 5-7 in Southern Conference play. The win ends Wofford's nine-game win streak in the series. Wofford falls to 14-11 overall and 6-7 in SoCon play.

"We held them to 30 percent shooting from the field and we win, going 4-for-24 from three," Samford head coach Bucky McMillan said. "Not playing our best offensive game, but because we bought in to playing defense for 40 minutes. I thought it was really good that we were playing defense when we were having offensive draughts. Because when that game got up to nine, you'd see a lot of teams press panic. I thought our guys really stayed the course and kept us within striking distance. I think we matured a lot tonight because of that."

Ques Glover led Samford in scoring with 18 points. Jermaine Marshall posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The double-double was his eighth of the season, tying for the most in the SoCon. Jacob Tryon had 13 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots, including several key blocks and offensive rebounds down the stretch.

B.J. Mack led Wofford with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Max Klesmit scored 15 points for the Terriers, while Ryan Larson had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Samford fought back to tie the game at 16-16 with 7:12 to go in the first half after a dunk by Jaden Campbell. Wofford scored the next seven points to take a 23-16 lead at the 4:22 mark in the first half following a layup by Sam Godwin. The Terriers extended their lead to 31-20 with 1:02 left in the first half after a layup by Mack. Wofford took a 31-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
