Women’s Basketball Falls At Wofford, 70-62

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
The Samford women's basketball team dropped a 70-62 decision at Wofford Thursday evening at Richardson Indoor Stadium.
 
Samford falls to 11-8 overall and 8-2 in Southern Conference play with the loss. Wofford improves to 11-6 overall and 7-3 in league play.

  • Samford took a 6-5 lead with 5:30 left in the first quarter after a layup by Cournoyer.
  • Wofford then went on a 9-2 run to take a 14-8 lead with 1:04 left in the period following a layup by Niyah Lutz.
  • Wofford held a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Terriers pushed their lead out to eight points at 20-12 early in the second quarter.
  • Samford cut the lead to 20-16 with 6:16 left in the second quarter after a layup by Armstrong.
  • With Samford trailing, 24-16, the Bulldogs went on a 13-0 run to take a 29-24 lead with 1:08 left in the second quarter after a jumper by Cournoyer.
  • Samford took a 31-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.
