Volleyball `Dig Pink' Game Set for Oct. 14

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford volleyball team announced its annual Dig Pink game for Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. against the College of Charleston. The event will honor all those who have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer. Luminary dedications in honor or memory of individuals who have survived or are currently battling breast cancer will be available for $2 and will light the walkway to the Hanna Center the evening of the match. A survivor dinner will also be held prior to the match at 6 p.m. in the Hanna Center Hospitality Suite and all breast cancer survivors are invited to attend. Those interested can contact Hollie Huey (hhuey@samford.edu, 205-726-4344) to make your reservation or have an invitation sent to a survivor. This Wednesday, Sept. 14 members of the Student Athlete Advisory Council will be having a bake sale in Ben Brown Plaza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be selling $1 glasses of pink lemonade and 2/$1 cupcakes as well as taking donations to benefit the Side Out Foundation, a foundation that unites volleyball players and coaches to further breast cancer awareness, education and patient services.
