BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford junior tennis player Renan Silveira has earned the first Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor for the 2007 season. Voted on by the conference office, the Player of the Week award goes to the conference player who has turned in an outstanding performance in the previous weeks.

Silveira is currently undefeated against conference opponents and holds an even non-conference record at 4-4. He and doubles partner Sam Huffman have taken down two doubles teams from nationally ranked opponents. Three weeks ago, the pair came out victorious over the No. 3 duo from No. 23-ranked Clemson and almost a week later defeated the No. 42-ranked doubles team in the nation from South Carolina.

Silveira is a junior from Pelotas, Brazil, studying international relations at Samford.
