Samford Cheer and Dance in Costa Rica

The Samford Cheerleaders and Dancers Spend a Week Doing Missions Work in Coronado, Costa Rica

This past week the Samford Cheerleaders and Dancers took their talents way down south to the beautiful country of Costa Rica.  While in Costa Rica, the girls spent five days serving the local children and assisting in the building of a brand new orphanage.  It was the trip of a lifetime, and each of the girls returned home impacted in more ways than one.

One of the most emotional aspects of the trip was sanding the walls of a soon-to-be orphanage in the mountains of Coronado.  While sanding the walls and preparing them for a fresh coat of paint, the girls' thoughts went immediately to the children who would one day live inside of those walls.  By the end of the trip, the team was already dreaming of the day they would return and meet the children living in the home the girls were preparing.

In addition to working on the orphanage, the Samford Cheerleaders and Dancers were able to spend several days at an already functioning orphanage where they participated in arts and crafts, outdoor activities, Bible lessons, and even a performance or two.  One night, the team served as babysitters for the house parents, who were able to enjoy a night out of the house for the first time in months.  During these days at the orphanage, the girls formed many relationships with children and adults alike, and the girls learned more about what life as an orphan in Costa Rica looks like.

Needless to say, it was a week no one is soon to forget.
