BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Samford senior defensive lineman
Nicholas Williams will play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game on Feb. 2, at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas.
Williams, who will play on the “Nation” team, tallied 31 tackles, including 15 solo stops as a senior at Samford in 2012. He had 8.0 tackles for a loss, and he finished second in the Southern Conference with 7.0 sacks. Williams also had three pass break-ups, three quarterback hurries and one blocked kick last season.
At the conclusion of the 2012 season, Williams was named first-team All-Conference by the Southern Conference coaches and media.
In his four-year career at Samford, Williams finished with 66 total tackles, including 39 solo tackles, 11.0 tackles for a loss and 10.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles and broke up five passes.
The Texas vs. the Nation All-Star game is a post-season college football all-star game that was established in 2006. Each team consists of approximately 54 draft eligible players, representing Div I, II and III college football teams, from all over America.
Kickoff for the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game on Feb. 2, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CT) at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports Southwest.
