BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford University athletics department announced the hiring of two new staff members on Thursday. Jennifer Hogan will serve as the academic advisor for football, and Hollie Huey will be the department's new director of marketing.

At UAB, she advised a portion of the undergraduate education majors, and some non-degree seeking students as well. She also determined eligibility, and she processed graduate applications for admission and background checks for student teaching and certification.

From 2005 to 2007, Hogan was a transfer counselor at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, S.C. She provided overall academic support for participants in the Student Support Services program.

Hogan worked at her alma mater, the University of Alabama, from 2004 to 2005 as an admissions counselor for the office of undergraduate admissions. In her role at Alabama, she provided administrative support in the university's efforts to identify and enroll qualified undergraduate students.

She also worked for the Boy Scouts of American from 2001 to 2004. From 2001 to 2002, she was a district executive, and from 2003 to 2004, she served as a Learning for Life executive, marketing coordinator and grant writer for the organization.

Hogan worked as a graduate assistant in the athletics department at Alabama from 1998 to 2000, working as an assistant video coordinator. She managed video for women's athletics, coordinated film exchange for women's basketball, prepared game film and other material for coaches and organized video files and footage.

Hogan is a 1999 graduate of Alabama with a degree in commerce and business administration. She also earned her master's from Alabama in higher education administration in 2000.

Hogan is married to current Samford football strength and conditioning coach, Paul Hogan.

Hollie Huey

Huey comes to Samford after serving as a marketing assistant at the University of Alabama from 2007 until being hired at Samford. At Alabama, Huey assisted in all areas of marketing and promotions for Alabama's athletic department. She performed marketing and promotional activities for all athletic department events, and she managed the department's student workers.

Huey was specifically responsible for the marketing of the university's soccer program, which set a school record for attendance during the 2007 season.

Prior to working in marketing at Alabama, Huey worked as a student assistant in the UA media relations office. She performed a number of duties in media relations, including writing feature stories for the Crimson Tide's game-day football program and the school's athletics website. She also assisted on game days with statistics and post-game media requests.

From 2005 to 2007, Huey worked as a reporter and photographer for the Centreville Press. She was the lone reporter and main news photographer for the weekly newspaper. She also sold and built advertising for the publication.
